White’s Corners: Last night a man with a woman and baby
asked Andrew Erway for the privilege of staying in his barn, saying they had
walked thirty miles that day. They
were taken into the house and the family was entertained with some big
storied of escape from the British Army, etc.
According to his story they landed at Castle Garden three weeks ago
and instead of being put on the right road to join his brother at Salamanca,
N. Y. they were sent to Wellsboro.
