The last surviving son of W. Gale, after whom Galeton was named, died at his home in Riverdale.  He was born at Windom, Greene Co. N.Y. in 1852.  He came with his parents in 1880 where they started the Pine Creek tannery.  He was manager of the  tannery until 1897 when he moved to New York City.  He was married to Miss Elizabeth Bentley of Honesdale in 1902 who survives with 2 children, Loring R. Jr. aged 10 and Lucille aged 7; also one sister, Mrs. W. F. Osborn.

died last Friday at Germania, the last one of its pioneers, the survivor of the Civil War.  He came to Germania when a boy of eighteen in 1856.  After the close of the war he returned to Germania and in 1867 was married to Sophia Hubers who died about 5 years ago.  Five children, Anna, Henry, John, Frank and Oscar were born and all survive with the exception of Henry who died at Coeur De Alene, Idaho.  Two brothers, Fred and William and one sister, Mrs. Augusta Meixner also survive.

who lived on the Olmstead farm between Brookland and West Pike, was found dead on the barn floor with two bullet wounds in his head on Monday.  Mystery shrouds his death.  He was addicted to the use of morphine and had purchased a revolver a week previous.  It was thought the wounds were not self inflicted.

was found lying along side of the railroad track near the dam in Clintontown on Monday afternoon with a bullet in his head and a revolver lying at his feet.  He was born in Ebendorf, Saxony Aug. 15, 1836 with his wife and four small children came to Germania in 1869.  In 1900 his wife died.  Surv. By children:  Carl of Germania; Emil of Coudersport; Christian of Galeton;  Mrs. Lean Kern of Galeton and Mrs. Anna Schondorfer of Jersey Shore.  One son, Herman died at Germania a number of years ago.  Buried in Germania cemetery. died Monday age 50 years.  She was born at bulley Hills, Pa.  Jan. 18, 1863 and was married to Robert G. Beveridge on Dec. 25, 1888.  Survived by 4 children:  Robert of Buffalo;  Roy, Ross and Mrs. A. Berry of Galeton; also her mother, Mrs. Lavina Stranford; one sister, Mrs. Lenora Oiesen of Oil City and one bro., Keefer Stranford of Buffalo.  Buried  in West Hill cemetery.
