Johnson, Mrs. Sally Ann

Mrs. Sally Ann Johnson, wife of John H. Johnson died Monday morning at the family home in Addsion, N.Y.  She was born Aug. 13, 1851 at Lisle, N.Y.; married Oct. 25, 1876 to John H. Johnson of Coudersport.  The children are, Rufus of Costello, Pa. and Dewitt at home, Mrs. Edward Skillman of Addison, Mrs. Eugene Hanes of west Pike, Pa. and Mrs. George Ludwig of Galeton, Pa.  A brother James Perce of Clachamas, Ore. Burial in the Rural cemetery.  Mrs. Johnson lived in Galeton until three years ago.

Plank, Lovell

Lovell Plank aged 80 years, founder of L. Plank & Sons, Inc. of Westfield died at his home Jan. 2, 1924.  He was a veteran of the Civil War and discharged in 1866.  Surviving are his widow, one dau., Edith Thompson and two sons, Bert & Warren.

Coole, William Raymond

William Raymond Coole, eldest son of Mr. & Mrs. W. H. Coole of Galeton and Edna Louise Keeler of Elmira were married Dec. 14, 1923 in Elmira, N. Y.

Johns, Charles

Charles Johns of South Branch died at the Blossburg Hospital Sat.  he was 59 yeaers old.  Survived by his wife & 4 sons, William, Herman, Peter, & David, 2 daus., Mrs. Dana Leach and Lenore, 3 brothers, Emil, William & Joseph; 2 sisters, Mrs. Marvin Davis of Olean & Mrs. John Campbell of Germania.  Burial in Prouty cemetery.

T. W. Graves known as “Buster” shot himself with a rifle in the cellar of his home on Morris Lane, Wellsboro.  He was Tioga Co. treasurer.  Survived by his wife and infant daughter.

Crowl, Harold

Harold Crowl aged 28 years lost his life in the explosion at the Hercules Powder Plant at Emporium last Monday.  Surviving are his wife, 2 children, randall & Helen.  His wife was the former Miss Marion Hughes, dau. of Mrs. Minnie Hughes of Galeton.

Appoloni, Arcadia

Arcadia Appoloni was inastantly killed near Mills, Potter Co. last Friday night whwen the car in which he was riding skidded on ice and overturned.  He was a native of Rome, Italy and had lived in this country about 3 years.  He was a single man.

McTamney, James, Jr.

James McTamney, Jr. died at the DubBois Hospital Sunday night.  Burial in Addision, N.Y. He was the oldest son of Mrs. James McTamney of Owego, N.Y. formerly of Galeton.  Survived by his mother, his wife, 4 sisters, Mrs. Geo. Straitz of Detroit, Mich., Catherine, Mary & Delia McTamney, 2 brothers, Frank & John of Owego.

Ruf, Arnold

Arnold Ruf, formerly of Galeton died at the Memorial Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. last Friday.  He is survived by one daughter, Leah Ruf of this place.

Welfling, Charles

Charles Welfling died at Coudersport Hospital on Jan. 10th.  He was born in Germania 56 years ago and was married to Miss Emily Kortz of Germania.  He was Sheriff of Potter Co.   Survived by two daus., Helen DuBois and Lillian Welfling; one bro., Adolph of germania; 3 sisters, Mrs. Johanna Craig of Philadelphia, Kate Moran of Couderposrt,  & Mrs. Phillipine Qolz of Germania.  His wife died about six years ago.

Short, Willard

Willard Short died at his home in Perry, N.Y. last Wed.  Burial in Fillmroe, N.Y.  He was the father of Mrs. Charles Carpenter of Galeton.

Allen, Miss Anna Maria

Miss Anna Maria Allen died at the home of her niece Mrs. E. M. Dickenson on Fri. Jan. 186h.  She was born in Cazenovia, N.Y., Apr. 13, 1838.  She served as postmistress at Clara for 30 years.  Burial in Clara cemetery.  Survived by her niece and her nephew, Nelson L. Allen of Williamsport. 

Hulburt, Mrs. Roxy

Mrs. Roxy Hulburt died at her home in Gaines Wed. morning.  Survived by her husband and 5 small children, the youngest an infant of 2 weeks.

Stickler, Layton

The body of Layton Stickler missing from his mone since Thrus. Jan. 11th was discovered in the dam at the Recreations Park Sunday morning by Milton Zeaman aged 12 years.  Layton Stickler was about 22 years of age and had been an inmate of the State Hospital at Danville.  Burial in the Knowlton cemetery.  Survived by his mother & step-father Mr. & Mrs. Hoyt Mattison, & following bros. & sisters:  Mrs. Geo. Bartles of Hornell, Mrs. Bert Davis of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Geo. Bellinger of Tyler, Pa., Mrs. Geo. Buchard of Galeton, John Stickler of Hornell, Floyd Stickler of Galeton and a half-bro., Danforth Mattison.

John Grimes, aged about 60 years a resident of Shinglehous, was found dead sitting in a rocking chair in his home last Thurs.  His wife was away on a visit.
